Skokie Students are hosting a fundraiser to benefit the organization, Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter. To raise money, Skokie’s 5th and 6th grade students have painted animal portraits inspired by current or former Orphans of the Storm shelter animals. These portraits will be raffled off to individuals that have purchased a $20 raffle ticket. For an additional $30, you can also reserve you child’s artwork in advance and receive it after the art show.
The Skokie School will be showcasing all of the students artwork at A.B.C.D (Artists Benefitting Cats and Dogs) Spring Art Show on on Thursday, May 16th from 5-7pm at the Skokie School. All are welcome to attend the show. Donations for raffle tickets and reserving your child’s artwork must be done in advance. All proceeds benefit Orphans of the Storm.
To pre-purchase your raffle ticket and/or reserve your child’s artwork, please fill out the form below:
- A $20 donation grants you one original 8″x10″ painted canvas, selected at random. Select canvasses will have additional prizes!
- For an additional $30, Skokie School parents can reserve a specific painting from the collection (must reserve by Wednesday May 1, 2024).
FAQs
- Should I still buy a raffle ticket if I can’t attend the art show?
Yes! Mr. Greenman will ensure that all parents that have purchased a raffle ticket will receive a painting. - How did the idea for the fundraiser come about?
This fundraiser is the brainstorm of students working with Mr. Greenman on a project based learning project. After creating artwork and visiting the animal shelter as part of a school field trip, the students wanted to do more to help the mission of the Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter – and the idea of a fundraiser was born. - How do I know if my student created artwork for this art show?
Students who have taken art in the last few months will have completed an animal picture. We encourage you to ask your child about this project and you are also welcome to email Michael Greenman to confirm @ michaelgreenman@winnetka36.org - Why can I only buy 1 raffle ticket?
Because the raffle ticket is connected to receiving a piece of artwork, we are limiting raffle ticket purchases to 1 per family. However, there are other places within the form to donate additional dollars to this organization. - Is there a link to see all the artwork?
Yes. Click here to view all of the work. - Is this a PTO sponsored event?
No. This fundraiser is being organized by Michael Greenman, the Skokie Art Teacher, and a group of students.
