Room Parent Back to School Parent Party - 1-2 Chairs + Committee
Organize Fall party for all Skokie/Washburne Parents.
Band Program Coordinator (Ongoing) -1 Chair Per School + Volunteers at Concerts
Serve as liaison between band instructor & parents, collect dues, provide refreshments at post concert receptions, buy gifts for instructors and other tasks as needed. Works with Orchestra Chair.

Serve as liaison between chorus instructor & parents, collect dues, provide refreshments at post concert receptions, buy gifts for instructors and other tasks as needed.
Social Committee (3 per school)
Organize PTO-sponsored social opportunities for students after/outside of school. For example, pep rally, movie night, ice skating, spring dance, charity fundraiser, etc.
Field Day (Late Spring) - 2 Chairs Per School + Volunteers for Field Day
Work with KW faculty to plan and organize school-wide Field Day event. Recruit and schedule parent volunteers.
5th Grade Welcome Coffee (Fall) – 1 Chair + Committee
Assist with planning and hosting a school coffee for 5th grade parents. Typically held in September.
Grand Receipts for Funds (Ongoing – Work done from home) - 1 Chair Per School
Collect and tally receipts from Grand Foods for Skokie/Washburne to receive a 3% return. This is a main fundraiser for our schools.
The Green Team; 1 Chair Per School + Committee
Work with administration, teachers, parents, and students to promote and implement green initiatives at Skokie. Organize Earth Week activities (spring). Chair is liaison to District 36 Green Team.
Hospitality (Ongoing) - 1 Chair Per School + Committee
Organize catered breakfast/lunch for teachers and staff 4 times a year. 2x in the fall, 1x in the winter and 1x in the spring (during Teacher Appreciation week).
New Family Mentoring (Summer/early Fall & throughout the year) - 1 Chair + Committee Needed
Work with the school principals to help welcome new families to Skokie/Washburne and District 36. Volunteers connect with new families and attend the New Family Gathering in late August-early September.

Picture Day Coordinator (Fall) - 1 Chair Per School + Volunteer on Picture Day
Coordinate with school staff and the photographer to ensure a smooth picture day in September. Recruit and organize parent volunteers for the day of.
6th Grade Social Dance (Fall) – 4 Chairs + 6th Grade Parents to Chaperone
Chairs coordinate dances and pizza pre-parties, organize volunteers and collect money. Volunteers are needed to help chaperone. The dances are held 5 times throughout September-October and take place in the Washburne Gym.
Skokie Art Volunteer Coordinator (work from home computer) - 1 Chair + Volunteer
Organize volunteers to help Mr. Greenman with a variety of projects in the art room using SignUp Genius and displaying students' art projects throughout the school.
Skokie School Supplies (Spring & Summer of incoming year) – 1 Chair + Volunteers to Distribute Supplies
Coordinate online sales of school supplies; coordinate delivery and distribution of supplies the week before school starts.
School Planters (Fall and Spring) - 1 Chair per school + Committee
Assist in maintaining seasonal planters around both schools.
Skokie 5K Committee - 1 Chair + Committee (Fall)
Work with principal and service advisor to organize volunteers, registration, pre-race packet pick up, water stations, and mile markers along the race route.
Social Committee (ongoing) - 2 Chairs + Committee
Organize new social opportunities for 5th, 7th and 8th graders after/outside of school. For example: pep rally, movie night, ice skating.
Washburne Graduation (ongoing): 4 7th grade parents chosen to assist in graduation and then chair their child’s 8th grade graduation the following year) – 7th and 8th grade parent volunteers.
Chairs coordinate/plan Graduation, committee members help with tickets, ceremony, reception and graduation party
Skokie Lunch Volunteer
Volunteers serve lunch to Skokie School students. The level of commitment and dates of commitment are your choice - once a week, once a month or sporadically for one hour per visit. As long as your child is at school, you will have the opportunity to see and interact with them each day you choose to contribute. Your child does NOT have to participate in the lunch program to volunteer. An email will be sent out this summer with all the details to the those signing up for this opportunity.
